Before James B. Knowles Jr. creates, he feels the rhythm in sketches, textures, and raw materials—what we can call his "compilations." This narrative exploration becomes a dance captured in small drawings of archetypes that inspire the larger work to come. His compilations are more than drafts; they're the heartbeat of his practice, naturally evolving into sculptures and fine art forms.

"I haven't grown up yet, so don't rush me," he says, embracing a playful yet lifelong journey of "making things."

Guided by rhythms and movement, James's creative flow is spontaneous free from pre-set steps. Formally trained, he honed his skills at Phillips Academy Andover, Yale University, and the Philadelphia University of Fine Arts. Today, he balances seasoned craftsmanship with an improvisational spirit, his work resonating with the beat of both structure and flow.
